Koya: The best udon in London
Sep 5, 2022

Setting the standard
I lived in London for a couple of years and during that time, I always needed a place I could rely on for hearty, honest noodles. Be it ramen, horfun, or whatever. I lived in Soho and just across the street from where I lived was Koya - one of the most legendary udon places in my mind.
Koya is already super well-known and during peak hours, you would have to get in a queue that is a mile long. I would always come during non peak hours (3-5pm) and get a seat in no time.
My go-to is niku udon (beef udon) but their other offerings are solid. The prawn tempura udon is probably my second choice; it's a huge piece of ebi. Ask for the ebi on the side if you don't want it getting soggy in the soup. I love their soup dashi and it isn't heavy on the stomach.
Address
They have a number of branches but the OG to me is at soho.
