Hwange National Park photos and my experience!

In the jungle, the mighty jungle

I must start by saying, Hwange National Park is a jewel. I recognize not many people will come to areas like this in their lifetime so I feel extremely fortunate to have come. There is so much unspoiled beauty and not much of society can be felt here.

Years prior to this, my Dad promised "I'll bring you guys to Africa!" to us kids but it never materialised. We kept giving him jabs for his empty promise, until one day he finally said that he, for real, bought tickets for me and my brother to go to Zimbabwe with him and my grandparents.

I think the pictures I took do not do justice to the things we saw on our safari. I guess that means I was living in the moment?

Hey big guy, sun's getting real low

Towards the end of the day, the sun was getting real low and we were losing hope of getting to see a lion. Lions are the main attraction here, and in a national park in Zimbabwe is pretty much the closest you'll get to seeing a feral lion. Our whole jeep got excited when we spotted this big boy waiting in the grass. I got a shot of him through my binoculars, but we were able to drive up much closer to him.

The big boy was calm and we waited with him for awhile. We sat there quietly while he looked to the horizon the whole time. We thought maybe he was searching for prey but we weren't sure.

This was an experience of a lifetime for me.
